Business of the First Quarter
On April 25, 2006, Phoebe Worth Medical Center was awarded Business of the Quarter. CEO Keith Petersen accepted the award on Phoebe Worth’s behalf.
Phoebe Worth Medical Center is quality care-right at home for Worth County since May 1, 2002. The comprehensive services include medical-surgical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, women’s health services, a sleep studies center and much more. A 16-member staff in Phoebe Worth Emergency Center is Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certified. With newly upgraded equipment, the center has telemetry monitoring in every room. Phoebe Worth Medical Center combines the innovations of a progressive health care system with personalized care in a hometown setting. The criteria for business of the quarter include:

· The employer and employees should participate in and/or support community activities
· Contributed to the Chamber during the quarter

Business of the Second Quarter
On August 3, 2006, Southern Woods Plantation was awarded Business of the Quarter. Elaine Deloach, wife of Benjie Deloach, manager of the plantation, accepted the award.
Hunters can experience Georgia quail hunting in the traditional "Southern Style" at Southern Woods Plantation. Southern Woods Plantation is located four miles south of Sylvester, Georgia amid the towering Georgia pines and is only thirty minutes from the commercial airport in Albany, Georgia . There’s lodging for up to twenty-two guests in comfortably appointed bedrooms each with a private bath. Overnight visits include morning and afternoon hunts and a full plantation breakfast and lunch. The day concludes with a social time for relaxing followed by a delicious evening meal. If you can only visit for the day a full southern style lunch will be included. Your hunt can be conducted from an authentic mule drawn wagon or from specially designed four person buggies. You will be accompanied by professional hunting guides and a selection of well-trained hunting dogs as you pursue the native bobwhite quail.

Business of the Third Quarter
On October 18, 2006, Jessie's and Salon was awarded Business of the Quarter. Melanie Hurst , owner of the business, accepted the award.
Melanie Hurst opened Jessie's and Salon in 1981. Jessie's & Salon is very active with the Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Hurst serves on the Board as well as Treasurer on the Executive Board. She is Chairman of the Events Committee, which includes the Annual Chamber Dinner, & serves on the Community Development Committee, the Tourism Committee, and works with the Downtown Development Authority. Ms. Hurst is an active member of the Sylvester Woman's Club and this past quarter planned the breakfast for the dignitaries for the Georgia Peanut Festival. The Club is also planning for families to receive baskets at Thanksgiving. Ms. Hurst hosted the 4-hour Strategic Planning Conference for the Chamber's Executive Board, attended a dinner/meeting for the EDA of Worth County, planned the downtown Christmas market, and worked the Peanut Festival (and enjoyed playing the role of the 'Peter Pan Peanut Butter' jar) in the park. Business After Hours will be hosted at Jessie's & Salon on December 4 and we plan to receive toys for the Chamber's Annual Christmas Clearing House to be placed under a special Christmas Tree during the month of December. Ms. Hurst enjoys volunteer work and running a full-time business.

Business of the Fourth Quarter
On December 28, 2006, Automated Irrigation Controls, LLC. was awarded Business of the Quarter. Bryan Pike and Joe Dylinski accepted the award.
Automated Irrigation Controls, LLC is a locally owned company by Joe Dylinski and Bryan Pike, specializing in web based controls for agriculture. AIC installs and maintains controls systems on center pivot irrigation systems, peanut dryers, warehouses, greenhouses, and well sites, giving the user the ability to remotely monitor and control their system from the internet using any internet capable device (Cell phone, PDA, computer). AIC also offers a diverse solution for agricultural security, including camera systems and access control. AIC caters to the agricultural market. Whether the need is for fuel or energy savings or remote management, AIC has the solution.

Quarter 1 and 2 for 2007
On July 13, the Worth County Economic Development Authority was awarded Business of Quarter 1 for 2007. The Worth Co. EDA Director Alex McCoy, Chairman Roy Sumner, and Board Members accepted the award. The Worth County Economic Development Authority works toward helping local businesses grow and promoting the economic growth of Worth County.
On July 10, 2007, the City of Poulan was awarded Business of Quarter 2 for 2007. Mayor Dusty Grubbs, City Council members, Police Chief Angie Schlosser accepted the award. Poulan was settled in around 1877 along the Brunswick and Albany railroad. The city was named for Judge W.A. Poulan. Poulan is known as the home of ex-Michigan governor Chase S. Osborne who founded a hunting lodge known as Possum Poke.
