Poulan

Possum Poke
Chase Salmon Osborne (1860-1949), the reform governor of Michigan (1911-12), made his winter home here in Poulan at Possum Poke. The former governor of Michigan was a significant political figure of his time and the home therefore has great historical meaning for those in our area. He wrote on a wide range of topics including geography, social sciences, and wildlife.

Poulan was settled in around 1877 along the Brunswick and Albany railroad. The city was named for Judge W.A. Poulan. Poulan is known as the home of ex-Michigan governor Chase S. Osborne who founded a hunting lodge known as Possom Poke.
